1.4 Wallet Funds FAQs (Colorado)

Once your student is enrolled through OpenEd, you’ll receive access to a wallet of funds to support their unique learning plan.

Q: What is the total wallet funds per student?

A: $1,750 for the full program year.

Q: What CAN funds be used for?

A: Funds can be used for educational resources that directly support your student’s learning. Things like curriculum, books, online courses, learning tools, and supplies tied to subjects or goals in their plan. Just like a traditional school might provide textbooks or lab kits, you get to choose what works best for your child.

Q: What CAN'T funds be used for?

A: Items that are not eligible include:

  • General household items (like furniture, rent, or cleaning supplies)

  • Family vacations (and travel expenses)

  • Non-academic extracurriculars (unless they’re part of the approved education plan)

  • Anything that isn’t clearly tied to your student’s education plan

Q: Do I have to pay out-of-pocket for resources?

A: Only if you want to! Through OpenEd, you have options.

No out-of-pocket required: You can select resources through our Marketplace, Rainbow Resource, or Amazon. Purchases through these avenues will be purchased on your behalf using your student’s wallet funds.
