2.5 AI Use Policy For Students (RISE Online Academy)

At OpenEd, we value learning, curiosity, and integrity.

Technology—including Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools such as ChatGPT, Grammarly, or image generators—can support your learning, but must be used responsibly.

1. Purpose of AI Use

AI may be used to support learning, not replace it.

You may use AI to:

• Get help understanding a concept or topic.
• Check grammar, spelling, or sentence structure.
• Brainstorm ideas or organize your thoughts.

2. Not Allowed

AI tools must not be used to complete your assignments or assessments for you.

You may not:

• Copy and submit AI-generated answers, essays, or projects as your own.
• Use AI to take quizzes, tests, or write discussion responses.
• Use AI to summarize or rewrite large sections of assigned readings without crediting the source.

3. Academic Honesty

All work you turn in must reflect your own understanding, effort, and voice. If AI is used in a supporting way, you should be ready to explain how you used it or revise the work independently if asked.

Misuse of AI may result in:

• A request to redo the assignment,
• A reduction in credit, or
• A review of your progress toward course credit.

4. Guidance and Support

If you’re unsure whether using AI for something is okay, ask your OpenEd instructor before submitting your work.

The goal is to help you learn to use technology ethically and effectively—not to take away valuable learning experiences.
