3.5 Parent-Supplied Curriculum (OpenEd Academy)
Along with selecting from the wide range of educational resources available through OpenEd Academy's marketplace, you also have the option to include parent supplied curriculum to qualify for credit on your student's official transcript.
What Is Parent Supplied Curriculum?
Parent supplied curriculum is external curriculum designed by you in collaboration with your student’s teacher.
This personalized approach empowers you to make the instructional decisions that are right for your student while allowing their teacher to easily monitor their progress.
To accurately reflect the rigor and intensity of your student's planned work, you can choose to submit a 1 credit, 0.5 credit, or 0.25 credit parent supplied curriculum request through the marketplace.
How To Add Parent Supplied Curriculum Through The Marketplace
In the marketplace, use the search bar in the top right corner to search for "parent supplied curriculum."
You can select from three options: 1 credit, 0.5 credit, or 0.25 credit.

Click on the credit option that matches your needs. Then, click on Add to Cart.

You'll see a popup asking you to fill out some information about your parent supplied curriculum, including:
- The curriculum provider (Example: Saxon Math)
- Course title or level
- Delivery method (Examples: Physical workbook, hands-on learning, online curriculum)
- Course description
- Course duration (8 weeks, 6 months, etc.)
- Anticipated regular participation (One hour daily, 45 minutes twice a week, etc.)
- Suggested final review (At level completion, after X number of lessons, etc.)
What To Expect After Your Request Is Approved
After your request is approved, our Academic Counselor will work with you to create a new portfolio for your course using the platform Unrulr.
Together, you’ll create a course description, curriculum and instructor record, and student performance goals.
Then, our Academic Counselor will set up a time for you and your student to meet with the supervising teacher for the course.
Note: This meeting with the supervising teacher is a great time to clear up any questions and establish meaningful checkpoints with plenty of opportunities to celebrate your student’s progress.
Once your portfolio is complete, your supervising teacher will write up a final review and submit a course grade to be included in your student’s transcript.
You’ll receive confirmation of your student's credit from our Academic Counselor.
