Minnesota FastBridge screens K-3 students three times a year to screen for dyslexia and determine readiness to master grade-level work in Literacy.

Q: Which students take the FastBridge Literacy screener? 

A: Minnesota students in grades K-3 take this screener.

Q: When will this screener be administered? 

A: This screener is administered three times a year in the Fall, Winter and Spring.

Q: Is this screener virtual or in-person? 

A: This screener is administered virtually. 

Q: How do I schedule this screener?

Q: What should my student expect during the screener? How long will it take?

A:  On the day of your student's assessment, please join the Zoom link at the scheduled time. A proctor will be present in the Zoom room to monitor the test.

For students in grades K-1: Your student will join a Zoom link for a 1:1 session with a proctor, who will give your student instructions. The assessment is not timed, but students usually finish within 30-45 minutes.

For students in 2nd grade: Your student will join a Zoom link for a 1:1 session with a proctor, who will give your student instructions. The assessment is not timed, but students usually finish within one hour.

For students in 3rd grade: Your student will join a Zoom link for a group session led by a proctor, who will give your student instructions. The assessment is not timed, but students usually finish within one hour.

Please note: While FastBridge isn’t timed, your student may be prompted to move onto the next question for some test items if they don’t respond within a certain time frame.

Q: What are the technology requirements for this assessment? What devices can my student use?

A: You can view FastBridge's technical requirements here. 

Your student can use the video-capable device of their choosing, but please note that phones aren't allowed.

Q: What is the participation expectation for this screener? 

A: OpenEd students are expected to participate in this screener, but you can elect not to participate.
