Q: Which students need to take the Math & Literacy screener? 

A: Iowa students in grades K-6 will need to take this screener.

Q: When will this screener be administered? 

A: This screener is administered three times a year (Fall, Winter and Spring).

Q: Is this screener virtual or in-person? 

A: This screener is virtual. 

Q: How do I schedule this screener? 

A: The Exact Path Reading and Math assessments can be accessed through your student’s library in the OpenEd platform. We will let you know when your student should take their assessment based on the time of year. There is no need to schedule this assessment. It needs to be taken during the testing windows indicated in the OpenEd platform. 

Q: What should my student expect during the screener? How long will it take?

A: 

These assessments take about 45-60 minutes to complete, but they are not timed, so your student can take as much time as they need.

If your student gets tired or needs a break, they can pick up where they left off on another day within the testing window.

Exact Path offers assessments in three different subjects: Reading, Language Arts, and Math. Your student is welcome to do all three, but only Reading and Math are required.

Q: What are the technology requirements for this assessment? What devices can my student use?

Your student can use tablets, laptops, desktop computers, or any other internet-enabled device - but please note that phones are not allowed. (On the first page of Exact Path's system requirements, you'll see that mobile phone devices are not supported.)

Q: What is the participation expectation for this screener?

A: OpenEd students are expected to participate in this screener, but you have the option to decline to participate. 

You can update your student's participation status through the Assessments tab of your OpenEd platform.
