6.3 ISASP (Iowa)

The Iowa Statewide Assessment of Student Progress (ISASP) measures student achievement, growth and career readiness based on grade-specific Iowa Core Standards.

Q: Which students need to take the ISASP? 

A: Iowa students in grades 3-8 will need to take the ISASP for ELA, Math, and Writing.

Iowa students in grades 5 and 8 will also need to take the ISASP for Science.

A: The ISASP is administered once a year in the Spring

A: The ISASP is administered virtually.

After you have a scheduled timeslot, you can view that information directly through the OpenEd platform. 

Q: What should my student expect during the assessment? How long will it take?

A: All students in grades 3-8 will need to schedule three separate sessions - one for Reading, one for Writing, and one for Math.

Students in grades 5 and 8 will also need to schedule a session for Science.

Each session is scheduled to be around an hour long, but your student might finish sooner than that. The goal is to make sure your student has enough time to complete the assessment without feeling rushed!

Your student will take this assessment on the platform TestNav (download here). 

They'll have access to various tools, including calculators and bookmarks.

A: Your student will take the ISASP on the platform TestNav. You can view TestNav's system requirements here.

Q: Can I opt my student out?

A: No, OpenEd students unfortunately can't opt out.
