7.3 KAP ELA/Math (Kansas 25-26)

The Kansas Assessment Program (KAP) assesses students' grade-level proficiency in ELA and Math.

Q: Which students need to take the KAP for ELA and Math? 

A: Kansas students in grades 3-8 will need to take the KAP for ELA and Math. 

Q: When will this assessment be administered? 

A: The KAP for ELA and Math will be administered once a year between April 27th-May 8th.

Q: Is this assessment virtual or in-person? 

A: You'll be able to choose whether you would like your student to take this assessment virtually or in-person.

Q: How do I schedule this assessment? 

A: Our team will be in touch in early Spring to help you find a time that works for you!

Q: What should my student expect during the KAP? How long will it take?

A:  Each subject on the KAP takes about 45-60 minutes to complete. So to finish both ELA and Math, your student should expect the assessment to take about two hours. (Your student can take as long as they need, though.)

Students will be proctored in groups of ten or fewer. Your student will need two devices: one for testing, one for the proctor to monitor. (Phones can be used as your second device, but they can't be used to take the assessment.)

Prior to your scheduled test date, we recommend downloading the Kite Student Portal that'll be used during the assessment:

    Please note: Android tablets, Chromebooks and phones of any kind can't be used to take this assessment.

    Q: Can I opt my student out?

    A: No, OpenEd students unfortunately can't opt out of this assessment.
